    A Brief History


    Early 80’s – Born under a starry Libra sky.

    Childhood – Developed strong empathy for plants; discovered a love of unicorns, restaurant menus, meatballs, poetry, and friendship. 

    Y2K – Moved to Hawaii; fell in love with the smell of the air. 

    The Naughty Noughties –  Played in the ocean and jungle a lot, developed strong roots and community on the North Shore of Oahu. Graduated from the University of Hawaii with a B.A. in Journalism, and a soft focus on photography. Reporter for Ka Leo O Hawaii, UH Manoa’s school newspaper; Senate Intern for State Senator Chun-Oakland. 

    2003 – 2010 – Worked mostly as a wedding & lifestyle photographer, while freelance writing for local publications like The Honolulu Weekly, FreeSurf Magazine, Flux Magazine, etc. 

    2007 – 2009 – Content manager & writer for a local digital publication (this was when independent journalism was first moving online). 

    2007 – 2011 – Actor, writer and producer for underground all-female filmmaking group Throw Down The Keys Films; 2x short film competition winner at Showdown in Chinatown, a 48-hour short film challenge. 

    2011 – Took a much needed break from [computer] screen time; helped open The Beet Box Cafe on the North Shore of Oahu, developed menu items and culture. Used cooking and love of food as a waking meditation while connecting with community. 

    2012 – Got lost at sea; took a road trip to NYC for more creative work. Wrote This Modern Romance with photographer (and childhood bestie) Stephanie Williams. Worked as Assistant Art Production Supervisor on various commercial productions for Macy’s, Nike, VH1, Sensodyne, Samsung.  

    2013 – 2014 – Got on a plane to San Francisco; spent the first month living on a friends boat. Freelanced as a writer, private chef and photographer. Partnered with The Digital Picture Company and Wells Fargo to photograph over 30 national events annually. 

    2014 – 2016 – FT role as a Content Strategist & Editorial Manager at Walmart eCommerce; learned about working in a behemoth sized organization. Continued freelance photography on the side. 

    2017- 2018 – FT role as Marketing, Content & Social Lead for Kodakit, a photography startup within Eastman Kodak Company. 

    2018  – Launched Blue Uprising PAC, a ocean-minded political action committee, with founder William Rinehart; helped flip 4 Congressional districts. 

    2019 – Moved to Los Angeles to help turn an old apartment building in Little Armenia into a creative community. An unfortunate Uhaul heist took all of my film negatives, but we kept dancing. Freelance creative and content strategy, writing and photography. 

    Recent Highlights:  

    Huglife Company – Directed successful Kickstarter video & campaign. 

    Commune Media – Content producer for multiple online learning courses, along with lifestyle photography. 

    Mamba – Producer for EVB Oakland on custom 16-bit digital video game, along with Mamba-Con, a pop-up experience in downtown San Diego during Comic-Con. 

    Jameson – Producer for EVB Oakland on quarterly content series for social. 

    Aglocal – Copywriting, content strategy and photography for local meat subscription service startup. Did I mention I love food?

    Destination Wedding Photography – Morocco, Tulum, etc.

    Women of the Grand – Photographed (and rafted) 16-day non-commercial all-women rafting trip through the Grand Canyon on 35mm film. 

    Wanderlust Festivals – Photographed national festivals; featured in Wanderlust: Find Your True North.
